I’m using Stila Stay all day liquid lipstick in the colour Bacca. This lightweight and vitamin infused lipstick provides full coverage and moisture to your lips. This range comes in 25 gorgeous colours to suit any skin tone or occasion. Unlike some liquid matte lipsticks on the market, this lipstick is not sticky, tacky and does not crack. This lipstick is simple to apply and because of the intense pigment, it does not require a lip liner. If you’re looking for a reliable matte lipstick that will give you kissable looking lips, Stila stay all day will give you a 6 hours perfect pout.
Benefit Punch Pop is all about fun. I am using Benefit Punch Pop in the colour Bubble gum. It comes in 6 other shades called Cherry, Mango, Strawberry, Watermelon, Sugar cookie and Pink Berry. The names of these colours speak for itself. It’s so summery and perfect for this sizzling bank holiday weather. This gloss contains vitamin E, known to soften lips and gives your pout a plush smooth finish. With the colours looking so juicy, I’m a little disappointed that this gloss hasn’t got a scent to match with it’s names. In fact it’s totally odourless, which may appeal to someone who is sensitive to scents and perfumes. Overall I really like this gloss as an every day gloss to go.
I’m using FENTY Beauty Mattemoiselle Plush Matte lipstick in the colour Shawty. This matte lipstick is creamier than most matte lipsticks I have tried, and is gloriously pigmented. The finish is not extremely matte, but I love that it is subtle. As you can see from the video, one swipe gives you full and intense coverage. No lip liner needed! Like other Fenty products, the packaging is distinctive and gorgeous. This ultra slim lipstick is available in 14 bold and beautiful colours designed to suit all skin tones. At £16 a pop, I think it’s definitely worth the buy and will definitely be adding more colour to my collection.
Revolution London is a cruelty free brand with the drugstore price tag. This week I am using Revolution’s Unicorn Dream Lip Kit. With a metallic purple lip liner and a holographic lip gloss, this lip kit is interesting to say the least. It’s not the most outrageous lipstick I’ve tried as it is surprisingly subtle. To achieve this look, I layered the lip liner on the edges and shaded in the outer parts of my lips. Then I blended it in using the holographic lip gloss. Okay, this isn’t the best quality lipstick I have encountered, but for £6.00 you can’t go wrong, especially if you’re feeling brave and want to try new colours.
Revolution Luxe lip kit is a serious bargain. It’s a drugstore brand and it’s pretty decent. The Revolution Luxe Lip Kit includes a lip liner and a lipstick and comes in matte, metallic and glossy. The liner is quality, it’s pigmented and creamy. The matte lipstick is good, although it doesn’t have a nice fragrance like other brands it is not something I’m going to cry over because this kit costs £6. If you love collecting cute lip colours you would love this. And you wouldn’t be breaking the bank either.
Okay, I admit it, I was instantly attracted to Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Lip Colour’In because of the packaging. But what I really loved was the amount of colours this lipstick is available in. I decided to be brave and go for a bright colour I normally wouldn’t try called Yuccie. It’s a beautiful bright berry purple and goes gorgeously with the purples in my Huda Beauty Desert Dusk eye shadow palette. With the first application it gives a lovely translucent colour. This lipstick was designed to be buildable, so you can get the intensity you desire. One thing I love is that it smells like roses and is absolutely divine. This comes as no surprise to me as Guerlain is one of the oldest perfume houses in the world. This lipstick is also pleasantly sweet to taste, not that I advise to eat it but it just shows the thought that went into designing this weightless and bare-lipped feel formula. I love love love this lipstick!
My Lipstick Of The Week is Ciaté London, Liquid Chrome Metallic Lip Gloss, colour Luna. I’ve always known Ciaté London for their cute nail polishes, but they actually sell many products from lip glosses to eye shadow palettes and they are cruelty free. Their prices are very reasonable and this lip gloss is beautiful. Chrome lip glosses are great for creating fuller lips and also making a statement. This range comes in six gorgeous colours and retails at £15. This colour is the perfect rose gold on its own and can be used as a topper too!
Lottie London is a vegan and cruelty free cosmetics company. Their products are trendy and colourful and without the designer price tag. As you can see from my collection, I love a nude and this is a gorgeous nude called Werk It from Lottie London’s Slay All Day range. There are many colours available in this Slay all Day range. This lip kit comes with a creamy and pigmented lip liner and lipstick for only £7.19! This matte liquid lipstick is creamier and thicker than most matte liquid lipsticks I have tried, but I found that this gave me more time to play around with it before it dried. I like this range a lot, it reminds me of brands like Barry M. I absolutely adore good makeup for a fraction of designer prices and I would totally recommend this one!
I loved my long black hair, it was my comfort blanket and it was safe. But I’ve had the same hair style since school and knew it was time for a change. I was a hair stylist’s nightmare, only getting a tiny trim every 6 months and using the occasional box colour to lighten my hair when I felt impulsive. I have been wanting to make a drastic change to my hair for a long time but I have chickened out every time. This time, my amazing friend Melissa Lovell talked me out of copping out. Melissa is a hairstylist/colourist/hair extensions specialist based in Novo, Southend. She has been in the hair industry for over 15 years and I knew I would be in good hands.
Having your hair coloured is a commitment. I am aiming for platinum blonde with dark roots. Before committing to this colour, I did a lot of research about products and how to maintain the colour and health of my hair. I also understood that I would not reach the colour I desire in one sitting but in stages. It is expensive and takes time, so I would recommend to anyone thinking of colouring their hair to do their research before hand.
Melissa made me feel safe and reassured. Cutting off years and years of hair is a big deal! I was surprised how much I love my hair short. I thought I would look like a boy, but I actually felt more feminine and fun. The cut instantly made my hair look thicker and healthier, I am thrilled with how bouncy and cute it looks.
Colour is unpredictable, you just don’t know how your hair is going to take. Everything went to plan and I was delighted with how light Melissa was able to get my hair with just two bleaches! She used L’Oréal Platinum Lightening paste and developer. With this she also used Olaplex Part 1, any good hair stylist or colour tech will tell you that it is the holy grail of preserving the integrity of your hair. She then left Olaplex Part 2 in my hair for 10 minutes after using L’Oréal P01 Toner to tone my hair.
If you watch the video you will see that we talk ALOT. I couldn’t help but laugh at myself when editing the video! It was so much fun having my hair done by my friend, in total Melissa spent about 5 and a half hours on me. She then did one more bleach and toner the next day to lighten my hair some more.
It’s not going to be a quick journey to get to where I want to be but I am thrilled with how the colour looks so far. I will now have regular appointments to maintain my hair. Again, it’s a commitment. I have purchased all the products recommended to keep my hair healthy but also maintain the colour. I’ll be writing about it soon and also documenting my journey in achieving that platinum blond hair I love so much. Watch this space!
